Haley Johnson graduated from the University of Chicago with a Bachelor of Arts in Public Policy with Honors and a minor in Latin American Studies. Over her collegiate years, Haley was able to take classes from a variety of academic disciplines, including International Relations, Political Science, Economics, Sociology and Anthropology.
While at the University of Chicago, Haley was awarded Honors for her undergraduate thesis in Public Policy. It employed SPSS (Statistical Package for the Social Sciences), a statistical analysis program, along with data gathered from the National Crime Victimization Survey. Her subject was examining trends in female victims of violence and the reporting of their attacks to police. She provided institutional recommendations to improve the rate of reporting among victims.
In addition to her undergraduate academic pursuits, Haley held a number of leadership positions in extracurricular organizations on the Chicago campus. She was a performing member of the 26th generation of Off-Off Campus, UChicago’s improvisational and sketch comedy troupe and served as the Production Manager of the organization. She was the Vice President of Communications for Delta Gamma, the co-chair of The College Dean’s Advisory Council, and worked as a career peer advisor in the University’s Career Advancement office. She also studied Latin American Civilizations and Spanish in Oaxaca, Mexico for several months in 2012 through the University of Chicago’s study abroad program.
Before joining Wood LLP, Haley worked as an Intern Investigator at the Orleans Public Defender’s Office in New Orleans, Louisiana in the summer of 2014. She provided support to staff investigators and attorneys on a variety of pending cases. In the summer of 2013, she worked as a rotational intern at the Episcopal Health Foundation in Houston, Texas.
At Wood LLP, Haley assists with general client work such as court filings, factual analysis and research, and other client-related document management. She also provides assistance in the administrative and publishing areas.
